Review: A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest

Interesting vampire story, but not properly developed.

Review: Shadows of the Past by Carmen Stefanescu

I loved the story. The characters, not so much.

Review: The Boys of Summer by CJ Duggan

A cute YA contemporary beach read.

Review: Strength by Carrie Butler

The world needs more Wallace. Swoon.

Review: Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

Amazing worldbuilding, if a tad predictable plot.

Waiting on Wednesday #4: Starglass by Phoebe North

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Expected publication: July 23rd 2013 by Simon and Schuster

Goodreads summary:
My darling daughter,
Know that I never would have left the Earth if it hadn't already been doomed. . .

The generation ship Asherah coasts through space, bound for a planet its passengers have never even seen. On the eve of their arrival, sixteen-year-old botanist Terra discovers that her orderly society has fractured. Walking home one night through the long-abandoned engine rooms, she witnesses the murder of an innocent man. Now, called on by the Children of Abel, a group of rebels intent on destroying the High Council, Terra must prove her mettle--assassinate the ship's rising captain. In order to carry out her task, Terra must betray her father, deceive her teacher, and challenge everything the Council has ever taught her was true.

The rebels think that Terra has nothing left to lose. But when she falls for Silvan Rafferty, the boy that she's meant to kill, Terra learns that "doing your duty" isn't always as easy as it seems.

Maybe I'm still riding the wave of Shades of Earth, but I've had my eyes on this one for a while...and I can't wait to read it!

Waiting on Wednesday #2

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Here is what I'm waiting on this Wednesday:

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry
Expected publication: June 7th 2013 by Harlequin Teen

Summary:
"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all....

Pushing The Limits was addictive and intense. I loved Beth and wanted to read more about her and I was thrilled to see that this one would be Beth's story.

This was a scheduled post and in the meanwhile I was approved to read it from NetGalley!

Waiting on Wednesday #1

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Woohoo! My first WoW. And I totally admit that I'm participating in the meme just to tell you how much I'm dying to read this:

Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3)
Published January 15th 2013 by Razorbill

The final book in the  New York Times bestselling trilogy, perfect for fans of Battlestar Galactica and Prometheus!

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn't the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed's former passengers aren't alone on this planet. And if they're going to stay, they'll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been for nothing.

FUELED BY LIES.
RULED BY CHAOS.
ALMOST HOME.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Less than a week to go!

Here are my reviews of Across the Universe and A Million Suns.
