500 Words a Day Challenge

Inkygirl has started a year-long 500 Words a Day Challenge and I have joined yesterday. Along with that one, there is a 1000 Words a Day Challenge. Though strongly tempted to enter the 1000 words challenge (which isn't too unrealistic- my daily average is 2000 words minimum) there are simply days when you can't get to the computer for more than five minutes. The badge is already posted on the left.

Yesterday I did 2500! Hurray for me!

The goal of this challenge is noble-to inspire writers to write! How simple is that? Don’t wait for the Muse to knock on your day. You’ll grow a beard waiting.

The rules are very simple. All you have to do is to write at least 500 words a day for at least six days a week. If you get sidetracked, it’s no big deal. The important thing is to stay honest to yourself and determined to start again next day. Don’t try to catch up if you failed the previous day; you’re just sentencing yourself to fail. If you lose another day, it will be difficult to reach the quota and the only thing you’ll achieve is to totally lose heart. Not worth it.

No one will actually supervise your progress-it is all about being consistent and honest to yourself. If you cheat, you’re only cheating yourself.

Now, what are you waiting for? Grab your pens and get to work!
