Summary: Freshman year of college is hard even when you're not tied to the future king of a supernatural society.
Allie dives into college head first with Hailey as her roommate and the city of New Orleans as her backyard. As things within The Society heat up, Allie realizes that whether she’s with Levi or not, she's in far too deep to turn back.

Flight (Crescent Chronicles, #1)

Summary:  Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

Flight had so many things working for me: the setting, the characters, the chemistry and an interesting and engaging plot. While I wish there was some more action, it was still a very enjoyable read.
Allie was by far my favorite character. She's quite mature, smart and funny, though to me she also came across as confused. No wonder -she's bombarded with expectations wherever she turns. First her father who expects that she follows in his footsteps, then Levi who- but let me get to that in a second.

Allie and Levi are such an interesting couple. She is reluctant to fall for a hot troublemaker, and he is persistent to prove how irresistible he is. He is not the typical bad boy, and Flight is not a typical paranormal romance.Up to this day, almost a month after reading Flight, I don't know how I feel about a certain act of his. Explaining the details would mean giving away the plot, but in short, by omitting the truth he puts Allie into a very dangerous situation. At the same time I can see his reasoning, and want to smack him on the head. It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the sequel.

This is the second or third NA that I've read which is set in New Orleans and there is really something magical about this city. Alyssa Rose Ivy wonderfully describes the music, the warmth of the night, the scents and the food. But the night also hides an empire of paranormal creatures hidden from the humans. First we're introduced to the Pterons, though closer to the end more paranormal species come up.

Overall, I really enjoyed Flight and I recommend it if you love paranormal romances with a twist. I haven't read many books about shifters and this was refereshing. I'll definitely be reading the sequel.
